After finding out S.H.I.E.L.D. attempted to replicate his Pym Particles, scientist Hank Pym resigns. The technology allowed him to shrink to small sizes and fight hostile forces while still retaining his full size density and augmented his strength. He feared that it would be dangerous in the wrong hands so he dedicates the rest of his life to protect the secret.

Fast forward to present day, Hank is now estranged from his daughter Hope Van Dyne and was outed from his own company by his protege Darren Cross. Cross who is obsessed with making his own shrinking suit called the Yellowjacket causes Hank to come up with a plan to sabotage the project.

In comes Scott Lang, recently released from prison and trying to straighten out his life for his daughter Cassie. Vowing to leave his criminal life behind him, Scott is forced back into his thieving ways after losing his job. His ex wife Maggie also tells him that in order to see their daughter he is to prove that he can provide stability for her with a job and house.

Scott's friend Luis sets up the job for Scott saying that a rich old man has a safe he can steal from. After using his skills to break into the house and safe, he tells the team that it was a bust. Finding only a "biker suit" Scott takes it and is in for a surprise after putting it on.

After experiencing going small and hearing the voice of a man telling him he can help him, Scott tries to return the suit, only to result in his arrest. Hank Pym comes and introduces himself to the police as Scott's lawyer and offers to help him. In return for getting Scott out and his daughter back to him, he asks Scott to use the Ant-Man suit to steal Cross's technology. It is then revealed he set Scott up to steal the suit, to test his abilities and see if he was worthy take up the mantel. Scott takes the deal and with the help of Hank and an army of ants, he breaks out of the jail using the Ant-Man suit.

He then commences training with Hank and Hope. As one of the tests they send him to steal a device from the New Avengers headquarters where he fights with Sam Wilson. Scott is able to defeat him and steal the device.

Once ready, Scott and his crew go to steal the suit however it was a set up. Darren knew their every move from the start and takes the Yellowjacket suit. All of this leads to a climatic battle between the Ant-Man and Yellowjacket on Scott's daughter Cassie's Thomas the train set. Though the ant army suffers many casualities, especially Scott's friend Antony, Scott beats Darren by going subatomic.

Scott is then thrown into the Quantum Realm and seems to be stuck there. It is a place Hank had mentioned before and that it had taken his wife (known as Wasp) from him. Scott manages to get back to the real world after tinkering with the suit. Paxton, grateful for Scott's heroism helps him get out of jail and to spend more time with Cassie. Hank wonders if his wife is still alive after seeing Scott making it out of the Quantum Realm. The movie ends with Scott meeting with Luis after having dinner with his family, saying that Sam Wilson is looking for him.

Plot:

If you read the synopsis above or seen the movie, the story is pretty straightforward, but it was a super fun and amazing. Much like Guardians of the Galaxy it really focused on heart and humor while balancing it with great action scenes. The family theme to this was really great and the whole time you are rooting for Scott to fight for his daughter. The same thing can be said for Hank and Hope, whose relationship is mended at the end. The fight scenes were well done and the shrinking scenes were just spectacular. I don't think I've seen anything more interesting and more beautiful than the Quantum Realm. It also opens up a window of possibilities.

Earth's cousin 'Earth 2.0'

NASA's exoplanet-hunting Kepler spacecraft has spotted another Earth-like world. The space agency today announced the discovery of Kepler-452b, the smallest planet we've found yet orbiting inside a star's habitable zone — the places around a sun where it’s warm enough for liquid surface water. NASA researchers are dubbing Kepler-452b as Earth 2.0.

Kepler-452b is about 60 percent larger than Earth and orbits its parent star, Kepler-452, once every 385 days — just 20 days longer than Earth orbits the Sun. Kepler-452 is also a lot like our own host star; it's roughly the same size and temperature and only 20 percent brighter. Kepler-452 is also 6 billion years old, approximately 1.5 billion years older than our Sun

"THIS IS REALLY THE FIRST STEP,
         AND HUMANKIND’S FIRST STEP,
        TO ANSWERING THAT QUESTION
"ARE WE ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE?"

Kepler-452b’s system is about 1,400 light years away from our Solar System, located in the constellation Cygnus. NASA researchers don’t know its exact mass or what it’s made out of, but they said that previous research has shown that planets the size of Kepler-452b are usually rocky. And since the exoplanet has spent 6 billion years in orbit around its star, the chances are good that life may be dwelling there.

"This is really the first step, and humankind’s first step, to answering that question "Are we alone in the Universe?" John Jenkins, of the SETI Institute, said at a NASA press conference. "You and I won’t be traveling to these planets, but our children’s children’s children may."

The discovery of Kepler-452b is substantial but it’s not the first of its kind. Last year, astronomers at the SETI Institute and NASA Ames Researcher Center announced the first Earth-sized exoplanet, Kepler-186f, found orbiting in a star’s habitable zone. The main difference between Kepler-186f and Kepler-452b is their host stars; Kepler-186 is a red dwarf whereas Kepler-452 is much more closely related to our Sun.

Newly discovered Kepler-452b is first near-Earth-size planet

Kepler spacecraft

The Kepler spacecraft was launched in 2009, with the goal of searching for other Earth-like worlds within the Milky Way Galaxy. So far, the spacecraft has found 4,696 exoplanet candidates, and follow-up observations and analysis have confirmed 1,030 of these candidates to exist. Through the combined efforts of Kepler and other astronomers

NASA 'Mars Trek' tool takes you on virtual tour of Red Planet

While some of us are still trying to wrap our heads around the capabilities of Google Earth, NASA has made it possible to explore Mars without leaving our home planet – or even our actual home.

Mars Trek is an interactive map composed of images taken from a several past missions. You can choose to view the Red Planet in 2D or 3D and zoom in on specific areas.

The program also offers users a variety of views: north polar, south polar, and global. And believe it or not, those views offer some pretty amazing scenes – including valleys, volcanoes, and other Martian landforms, as well as the landing spots of famous Mars rovers.

If you're afraid of what you might find while navigating the Red Planet all alone, don't worry. You can use the handy “bookmarks” function, which will automatically take you to the Mars' most interesting areas, including the Olympus Mons volcano – the largest volcano in the solar system, measuring 379 miles in diameter.

You can even recreate elements of the trip using a 3D printer – consider it a modern day postcard from the most exotic place you've ever “visited.”

NASA says that Mars Trek is primarily aimed at students and the general public, though more technical information for scientists and advanced students will come in the future.

Sherlock is back this year for a special extended episode — and it's coming to the big screen. Speaking at Comic-Con today, executive producer Steven Moffat said that the show's upcoming one-off special, set in Victorian London, would also be coming to select movie theaters around the world in addition to BBC One and PBS. Moffat didn't give an exact date for its release, but said the special was set to premiere "in the next year, we hope," before offering a short 90-second teaser trailer for the period drama.

After the special, Sherlock is set to return yet again for a three-episode series, but Moffat told the Comic-Con crowd that he hadn't actually started writing this planned season — the show's fourth — just yet. There's little in the way of plot details at the moment, but the coming special is set to reunite Benedict Cumberbatch's master sleuth with DI Lestrade, with actor Rupert Graves joining Moffat and executive producer Sue Vertue on stage at the show. Cumberbatch himself couldn't make it to San Diego, but sent over a video message — as did Moriarty actor Andy Scott, who's currently filming James Bond movie Spectre.
