Firing off an email that you wish you could take back is probably as universal an occurrence as forgetting to charge your phone or forgetting a password — it happens to everyone.

Well, now Google is making it official.

After years of being a “popular feature” in Gmail Labs, the company announced that its “Undo Send” option will become a formal option on Gmail on the web.

You must enable your Undo Send in the general tab in Gmail settings, and can customize how long of a grace period you’d like to give yourself, up to 30 seconds, to “undo send” that email you meant for your buddy that you accidentally sent to your mom.

The button isn’t magic, so there is a tradeoff. Gmail delays sending your emails for just a few seconds, in case you’d like to stop the message from leaving your outbox. Just after you hit “send,” an option appears at the top of the email asking you if you want to undo the action. You can modify your “cancellation period” to allow between 5 and 30 seconds of lag time. Those who are already using the Labs version of the service will have it automatically turned on. For everyone else, the option should appear in your settings over the next two weeks.

If you really do desire rapid-fire responses, it’s going to slow your roll just a little. But patience is rewarded; that 30 second wait time could be the difference between an embarrassing follow-up apology and a professional-sounding dispatch.

Plot:

With the IMF now disbanded and Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) out in the cold, a new threat -- called the Syndicate -- soon emerges. The Syndicate is a network of highly skilled operatives who are dedicated to establishing a new world order via an escalating series of terrorist attacks. Faced with what may be the most impossible mission yet, Ethan gathers his team and joins forces with Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), a disavowed British agent who may or may not be a member of this deadly rogue nation.

Review :

If you’ve ever seen a Mission: Impossible movie, you already know the drill. IMF agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is once again on the run, and once again he has to engage in a string of death-defying stunts to save himself, his agency, and the world. And once again, it all looks jaw-droppingly cool.

Christopher McQuarrie directed this time around, and Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, and Alec Baldwin star with Cruise. Watch the new Mission Impossible Rogue Nation trailer after the jump.

It couldn’t have been easy for Cruise and the filmmakers to figure out a way to top the Burj Khalifa stunt from Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. But between the airplane stunt (for which Cruise actually strapped himself outside an airplane) and the underwater scene (for which Cruise held his breath for six minutes), it’s safe to say Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation won’t skimp in thrills.

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation lands in theaters July 31.

Trailer :

Can we all agree that Kung Fu Panda is one of the more delightful animated franchises out there? When the first film came out, I figured it would be a wannabe Pixar movie, something that was all visuals and no substance. Boy was I wrong. And the sequel was just as good!

Kung Fu Panda has turned out to be one of the more pleasant surprises over the past few years, and I’m super excited for the third film, which comes out early next year.

The first trailer for Kung Fu Panda 3 was released on Thursday, and it has the same goofy humor, pretty visuals and great voice acting of the first two movies. What’s great about these movies is that it nails the “dumb” humor, the kind of jokes that are so lame they’re funny. And it’s just so fun to watch an aloof and clumsy panda save the world.

Here’s the synopsis for the third film:

When Po’s long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible—learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!

Even more goofy pandas learning kung fu? I’m in. Sign me up. The exchange between Po and his father in the trailer is gosh dang ridiculous, and the look on the faces of the locals says it all. Amazing.

Kung Fu Panda 3 will hit theaters Jan. 29, 2016.

Sometimes good things should die

Game Of Throne's Finale "Mother's Mercy" is pretty great. It's an hour of cliffhangers, with basically every scene leaving some character or another's life in mortal peril. It's also an episode that heavily suggests Stannis and Jon are dead. I have trouble believing that both of them are, but Game of Thrones' publicity machine is working overtime to convince me that's the case. (Can you imagine if Stannis lived but Jon died? I think the internet would burn down.)

As a coherent hour of television, however, "Mother's Mercy" leaves much to be desired. Last week, I wrote that Game of Thrones' signature "moment" storytelling has started to wear thin for me, and this episode pursued that strategy to its utmost. In fact, it went so far that it almost became like self-satire. It left me thinking that the series is probably going to veer away from this approach in the future, because there's really nowhere else to go with Big Moments standing in for genuine story.

  • Weirdly, however, "Mother's Mercy" served as a pretty faithful adaptation of the fourth and fifth books in George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series, A Feast for Crows and A Dance With Dragons (as Andrew has pointed out). My general sense at the end of both novels was that Martin was doing his damnedest to leave as many things up in the air as he possibly could. In fact, readers are still seeking resolution to open cliffhangers from A Feast for Crows, and that book was published in 2005.

Taken as a whole, A Feast for Crows and A Dance With Dragons (and now the TV seasons that have depicted them on screen) have what we might call "second-act problems." Martin conceived of The Song of Ice and Fire as a trilogy, initially, and much of what happened in the first three novels was originally intended to make up "book one" of that trilogy. Obviously, things have ballooned from there, but those first three books exude a very strong sense of being the first and early second acts of the overall story. The hero (or heroes, in this case) plunges into the middle of an adventure, then realizes that adventure is right there, teeth bared, ready to fight back. Great.

But beginnings are easy. Endings are also relatively easy. (Satisfying endings are hard, but we'll get to that in a couple of years.) Everybody knows what the start and end of a story looks like, including any child who's heard a few fairy tales. It's the middle where things get tricky, and it's in the middle where we find this particular tale.

"Mother's Mercy" is a test, of both the characters and the audience. If we can make it through this finale full of death and desperation, everything will get better."

  • That's probably why I found "Mother's Mercy" particularly disjointed. Game of Thrones has entered the doldrums of act two, where the story bottoms out and our protagonists find themselves at their lowest ebb. Of course, Martin has crafted multiple protagonists for us to follow, and then he's put them all at their lowest ebbs simultaneously. And Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have upped the ante by doing all sorts of things that never even occurred to Martin, like having Jaime watch as his daughter dies in front of him. So that rather creates the feeling of everything collapsing into utter despair.

But, weirdly, this episode also left me feeling hopeful; I have faith. In a very real way, there's nowhere for Game of Thrones to go but up. Whether or not Jon Snow lives, narrative structure all but demands that things start improving, because people can only endure so much punishment. "Mother's Mercy" is a test, then, both of the characters and of the audience. If we can make it through this finale full of death and desperation, seasons six and seven await, and everything will get better.

  • Or maybe I'm just thinking about these big, metatextual questions because as someone who's read the books, I'm finally out of ammunition for the smug superiority I can feel over those who haven't (because, I can only assume, they are incapable of reading). Maybe Martin finishes book six between now and season six, but even if he does, the relationships between the show and its source material, between readers and non-readers, will never be the same. So long, vague feeling of satisfaction I got from having read these tomes. Welcome, uncertainty.

If you haven't read the books. Were you more enticed by the finale's endless series of cliffhangers than I was?

What is Project Ara

When it comes to mobile phones, Google's focus has traditionally been on software, with its hardware involvement limited to working with phone manufacturers on its Nexus range of devices.

But now Google is ramping up its involvement in the physical-side of mobility Project Ara. This promises to make the smart/phone modular, allowing users to have the phone they want without the bits they don’t.

Jump To :

      What is a modular smartphone?

What is a Project Ara smartphone like?

How will people get parts for the phone?

Who is developing smartphones for Project Ara?

When and where will it be released? How much will it cost?

      What are the problems?

      What other companies are involved?

What is a modular smartphone?

Smartphones tend nowadays to be monolithic, meaning that you can't even change the battery without an effort (we're looking at you Apple and Samsung!). Google wants to take this trend the other way and make a phone that is highly customisable, not only in terms of software but hardware as well.

Users would buy the frame or barebones of the phone and then add parts such as the processor, memory, storage, battery, and camera. The user chooses the parts they want in the phone rather than the manufacturer.

Also as better parts become available or parts stop functioning, it would be easy to swap these out rather than replacing the whole phone.

What is a Project Ara smartphone like?

The smartphones will be built by inserting modules into a metal frame known as an "Endo" or endoskeleton, which Google would make this frame and this would link all the other modules together. The frame is expected to cost around $15 to buy.

Two frames will be available; a "mini" and a "medium" frame. A "large" frame will be available in the future. The mini will be roughly the size of a Nokia 3310, the medium the size of an LG Nexus 5, and the large around the size of a Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

There will be a slot in the front for a display and various slots at the back for the individual modules, which will be hot-swappable so the phone can remain powered on (the frame sports a backup battery). Modules are said to be held in place with magnets.

How will people get parts for Project Ara?

The modules will be available from an official Google store or from third parties. Ara smartphones would only accept official modules by default, but like Android, a software setting can be change to allow unofficial modules.

Who is developing smartphones for Project Ara?

Project Ara is being developed by Google's Advanced Technologies and Products division (ATAP), which is headed up by ex-DARPA employees Regina Dugan and Paul Eremenko.

According a report from The Verge, ATAP uses the "DARPA model of innovation" which seeks to use new technology to pursue practical goals, rather than indulge in pure research or rehashing old ideas into new forms. There are only a few permanent members of ATAP with outside contractors making up the bulk of the workforce. ATAP has also been working with modular specialist Phone blocks to get the idea off the ground.

When and where will Project Ara be released? How much will it cost?

Google said at its first Project Ara developer conference that it planned to release the device in January of this year with the base price of phone set at $50. This is grey-coloured phone, known as "Spiral 2", sports 3G connectivity out of the box and is aimed at encouraging users to customising the handset.

While the supposed January launch date has been and gone, according to Project Ara's Google+ page, the phones are still set to launch in Puerto Rico some time this year. Puerto Rico was chosen by Google as around 77 per cent of the population uses the internet on their phones and also has a poor landline infrastruture, meaning most people use a mobile as their sole means of telecommunication

What are the problems?

The main challenge seems to be Google getting this out of the door. With the January release date having been and gone without a firm alternative being given, a 2015 launch looks in danger of slipping completely.

Also, while the base phone is pretty cheap, the cost of the modules will soon rack up and users could end up with a DIY phone that is considerably more expensive than a normal smartphone.

With various manufacturers producing modules, there is also no guarantee that these will play together nicely, if at all. Customers would also have to be mindful of the fact that certain combinations may not be optimal. A slow processor may not function well with a top-of-the-range display, while energy guzzling modules won't make for a good experience if paired with a poor battery. Also, the modular design of the phone means it is likely not waterproof.

What other companies are involved?

Google has been working with Marvell and Nvidia to create a couple of reference designs for the phones. Toshiba is known to be building modules for the phone, including a set of processors and a 5-megapixel camera. Additionally, Yezz, a company that works exclusively on Project Ara, is said to be producing 20 or 30 modules for when the smartphone launches.

Dragon Warrior Is Comming Soon

Through most of the two Kung Fu Panda films, Poh was under the impression that he had no family, and his adopted father, Mr. Ping, the goose, was his only kin.

We only find out in the second film, that Poh has a family, and might we say, they're absolutely adorable. You may remember the last shot of Kung Fu Panda 2, where we get a glimpse of Poh's Panda family.

Now, hold your breath and stop whatever you're doing. A sneak peak into the third film has revealed some images of the Poh's family from Kung Fu Panda 3, which is due to release in January next year.

These Dreamworks Animation images are all over twitter, and a few websites are already carrying the images of the happy panda clan, playing around in the jungle, rivers, in a secret Panda village, and they are completely awww-worthy.

According to this USA Today article, there are also new characters in the third film, one of which is a young female panda called Mei Mei, who is an aspiring ribbon dancer.

But the real winner of the film is touted to be the baby pandas. Even Jack Black, who voices the character Poh, agrees, "Those guys are going to be the life of the party, for sure."

RATINGS :

Plot :

Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor's interest, which backfires horribly.

Story :

"If something chases you… run!" Welcome back to Jurassic World, a theme park where the patrons are lunch. It is promised to be one of the biggest movies of 2015.

The point of emphasis at the start of the Movie is on two young brothers taking a trip to the park of the title (in true Steven Spielberg fashion). But one thing that’s instantly different about the tone of this Movie is that the park is LOADED with people. This isn’t a handful of scientists scurrying away from dinos. This is a Disney World-level success story – a tourist destination – that’s about to be thrown into total chaos. The Sea World nod is evident, as a crocodile-type dinosaur eats a shark in one gulp. What do you think that can do to a person?

But the animals on display in the theme park aren’t the threat, and it doesn’t take long before Bryce Dallas Howard is talking to us (in true John Hammond fashion) about the progress they have made with genetics. Their work has allowed the team at Jurassic World to create a hybrid dinosaur. Only, as Chris Pratt’s happy to point out, "she" isn’t the best idea in the world, and it’s about to get ugly.

"Evacuate the park," Pratt’s character warns. Too late. The tourists are toast, unless Pratt and his army of Velociraptors can take this new threat down! The last shot of the above Movie gets your blood pumping. As do the piano key strokes of John Williams’ classic Jurassic Park score. Everything about this Movie is a huge WIN.

Say goodbye to Windows Media Center and control over your updates

Microsoft announced today that it will be launching Windows 10 on July 29th, encouraging Windows 7 and 8.1 users to reserve their free upgrade with a notification in their task bar. However, while the company has been busy highlighting all the shiny new features in the upcoming OS, it's been a bit quieter when it comes to spelling out the limitations — including making updates automatic for Windows 10 Home users.

Firstly there are the software losses. Most of these will only affect a small number of users, but upgrading will mean saying goodbye to Windows Media Center, the card game Hearts, and Windows 7's desktop gadgets. Anyone in the habit of using floppy disks on Windows will also have to install new drivers, and Microsoft warns that watching DVDs will also require "separate playback software." Microsoft manager Gabriel Aul has said on Twitter that a DVD option for Windows 10 is coming "later this year," but early upgraders can always download VLC instead.

Say goodbye to hearts

and desktop gadgets

In addition to the software losses, there are also a number of limitations for some of Windows 10's most exciting features. Cortana will only be available in the US, UK, China, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain at launch, while Windows Hello (which offers support for various biometric passwords) will need an infrared camera for facial recognition, or a supported fingerprint reader. The Xbox Music and Xbox Video streaming apps will also be constrained by the usual, complex web of region-based licenses.

More annoyingly, perhaps, Microsoft has also changed how updates will work with Windows 10. Although the Pro and Enterprise editions will both be able to defer updates, Windows 10 Home users will not have the option. Updates will instead be downloaded and installed automatically as soon as they're available. System requirements for the new OS have also been detailed, with PCs and tablets needing to pass a fairly low bar: a 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a display resolution of at least 1,024 x 600 are required. These specs are a bit higher for the 64-bit version of Windows 10 but for these details and more, you can check out Microsoft's full specs page.

Google unveils Project Soli, a radar-based wearable to control anything

This project aims to provide a way for people to interact with their Devices without touching their displays.

Leading into Google I/O, one session caught everyone’s attention. Google ATAP — the company’s skunkworks division tasked with creating cool new things we’ll all actually use — teased their session with talk of a new wearable that would “literally” blow our socks off.

Project Soli is that wearable, but it’s not the wearable you might think it is. It’s not a watch; it’s you.

Google ATAP knows your hand is the best method you have for interaction with devices, but not everything is a device. Project Soli wants to make your hands and fingers the only user interface you’ll ever need.

To make that happen, Project Soli is really a radar that is small enough to fit into a wearable like a smartwatch. The small radar picks up on your movements in real-time, and uses movements you make to alter its signal.

At rest, the hand is actually moving slightly, which end up as a baseline response on the radar. Moving the hand away from or side-to-side in relation to the radar changes the signal and amplitude. Making a fist or crossing fingers also changes the signal.

To make the signal make sense to an app or service, ATAP will have APIs that tap into the deep machine learning of Project Soli.

It’s still early days for Project Soli, but it’s got the crowd here at Google I/O excited. Rather than go hands-free, Project Soli makes your hands the UI — which may already be cooler than voice control ever was.
